I love learning and education is very important to me. After graduating with a Bachelors in Music Education from Millikin University, I moved to Princeton, IL to teach middle school band, choir, and social studies (I also have my certification in social studies). After teaching for five years, I took a year off to pursue a Masters in Arts from Goldsmiths, University of London. I returned to Princeton for four more years before moving to Colorado.
I initially came to Colorado to earn my PhD in Musicology from the University of Colorado Boulder (graduated in 2024). I specialize in music from around the world with my primary focus being traditional music from Japan. I found that I missed teaching so I joined the Renaissance team in 2022. This will be my third year at Renaissance Secondary and my 12th year teaching in schools. I am excited to continue to grow our small but mighty music program.
I enjoy the outdoors; camping, hiking, biking, geocaching. When I'm not outside, trying to get my 1000 hours for the year, I'm usually playing a board game with friends and family. My wife is also a music teacher in the Denver area and we have a toddler who keeps us busy.
