Arts Honors Societies

Renaissance Secondary is proud to offer the following Arts Honors Societies:

Renaissance Secondary is a proud chapter of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS), dedicated to recognizing and fostering excellence in the visual arts. NAHS magnifies the innovation, skill, and scholarship that visual arts programs and students bring to their school and community. Students must be enrolled in grades 6–12, have completed at least 1 semester of art in the school, and have a minimum art GPA of “B” (or the school’s equivalent) to be eligible for membership. Membership is based upon art scholarship, service and character.
Renaissance Secondary is also a proud chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, the only national honor society for student musicians, which focuses on creating future leaders in music education and music advocacy. The purpose of Tri-M is to inspire music participation, create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service and promote leadership in the music students of secondary schools.
Renaissance Secondary is home to Troupe 8694 of the International Thespian Society (ITS). ITS is an honor society for high school and middle school theater students. It is a division of the Educational Theatre Association. Thespian troupes serve students in grades 9–12. For induction into the International Thespian Society, high school students must have a minimum of 20 Thespian points, of which a maximum of 10 can be carried over from middle school.

Thespian-Convention (ThesCon)
Each year, in early December, our Thespian students attend the 3 day Colorado Thespian-Convention (aka ThesCon) in downtown Denver. ThesCon is a gathering of high school students from all over Colorado, where students attend workshops, compete in events and watch productions from other schools.
